But recently on my journey with God, I found out that only a fool vents. Yup that’s right, BIBLE! Proverbs 29:11. It states: "A fool vents all his feelings, but a wise man holds them back." And that’s when I realized well, you know what, maybe I do talk too much to people instead of God.
Sometimes it’s easier to just call up your home girl and spend hours just chatting your lives away! Thank God for unlimited call times because if this were back in the days, OH MY MINUTES!! It’s something about having someone to talk back to immediately, give you advice and maybe even feed into your delusion. Don’t lie, I know you’ve been in that boat! However, not everything is for the ears of everyone. Not even your bestie. Sometimes, God didn’t give us permission to share something yet here we are yapping about it. Not only that, sometimes God just wants to be your bestie.
As I’m typing this, I’m actually getting convicted too. The season I’m currently in is HARD! It is by far one of my hardest ones since receiving the Holy Spirit. All I want to do is call up my home girl and bawl on the phone with her. I just want to hear another human validate my feelings. But God is saying, REST IN ME and be quiet. See the hard part of the rough seasons is not complaining or venting. Even though we are humans and we’re expected to feel, there are times God just wants us for Himself. Wants us to bury all of our hurt, pain, concern and fears in Him. To trust Him even when things feel like they’re blowing up! Psalm 55:22, says, "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved.”
But what happens when you call on Jesus and it’s like He didn’t pick up the phone? Girl!! That’s usually when I want to crash out but I’ve heard this saying one time, “When you feel like God isn’t answering just remember the teacher is always quiet during the test.” That’s tea because what are we required to do during a test? Focus on it and try your best to pass. Oh and NO TALKING! So to sum this up. Sometimes, just shut up. Amen?
