Curating My Fall Wardrobe
Fall and Fashion just goes together and here are some items I’m definitely adding to my wardrobe to elevate every outfit!
Basic Pieces
Every girl needs basic pieces in their clothing collection. Having items you can mix and match will easily cure the problem of thinking you have nothing to wear. Investing in quality pieces that will last you a good time is key to shopping for basics.
Tops
White tees and tanks go double, triple platinum in my wardrobe. They just bring a clean look to whatever outfit I’m styling them with. A white top can always elevate even a comfy, chilled outfit. This fall I want to invest into Skims. We have a store here in NYC on 5th Ave, (Fun fact before it was Skims, it was Eden Gallery where Jonathan was an art handler and electrical engineer!) I’ll definitely be stopping there for some basics this fall.
A good button down shirt is key to that old money, effortless look for the cooler times. I want to own a few in different colors and a goal is to have my initial on a few of my long sleeve shirts. Hive and Colony is my go to for that. I have so many outfit ideas for the business casual style, especially for running errands or school events. You know I show up like the president of the PTA Board.
Pants
I usually shop in Marshall’s for my denim pants so that’s where I’ll be heading this year again. I already own some really good denim pieces but having a few more doesn’t kill. I’m on the market for a white denim pant and a black one as well. Along with jeans, I’m so into trousers. Styling them for a coffee run or church has always been my favorite thing to do. I’ll be investing more into trousers because they work so well all year long. H&M has a good selection of the style I like so definitely a must to stop in.
Outwear
Trench Coats & Furs
If you know me, you know I love a good trench coat! I’ve had my A New Day trench coat for 5 years and I’m still holding onto her however, it’s time for a new coat. I’m thinking something dark brown, long but a warmer material. I enjoy how trench coats immediately intensify a simple outfit. You’ll go from basic to mob wife in a second!
Along with my trench, I want to invest in a good fur coat. Honestly, Jesus is coming back soon and I just feel like it’s time to treat things as things and not status symbols or idols and wear them. So with that being said, when I do invest in a fur coat it will be worn in supermarkets, the train, to church, everywhere. Faux fur will be my option of course. (@ PETA, chill.) I think these style of outwear is such a girlhood thing.
Leather coats have been my new obsession since last year NYFW. I wore a forest green and faux fur long leather coat and literally felt like I was Anna Wintour. I can’t get over how chic that look was. It yelled blogger! What makes that specific one so special to me is that I only paid $30 for it and walking around wearing it makes me feel like a couple millions of dollars! So yes to a bargain!
Accessories
Definitely rocking my new prescription glasses. (They’re still being made btw.) The square tortoise design just reminds me of autumn so much. I know they’ll be styled beautifully with alot of my outfits. I just can’t wait. Aside from the ones I need to see, I’m actually going to be wearing some shades from last year again this year. My Chanel frames that I love to call my “Chic Mom” glasses are my favorite pairs for fall/winter.
Purses
I’ve already covered my rotation in my last Darling Digest but I’ll just sum it up again for you my dear. Steve Madden Bimitzi Shoulder Bag, JW Pei Yara Shoulder Bag & my mini Lady Dior. These are my darker colored bags that I believe is perfect for the ending the year off with timeless and class bags.
Jewelry
I’ll be keeping my jewelry simple as always. My signature gold watch and necklace are my go to always. My earrings varies since I have a good collection of vintage pieces. I’m currently on the market for a new signature bracelet stack that can be worn everyday. Definitely gold pieces or maybe even mixed metals for when I switch to my silver watch.
Shoes
Here’s where we get to talking about signature for real. I’m investing in about five good pairs of shoes to add to my collection. I need three boots, loafers and a sneaker. A knee high pair of boots is exactly what I need to execute my Upper West Side wife appearance. No heels of course to keep it comfy, a need pair of boots that will keep my toes warm for snow days, rain boots preferably yellow. Very practical and realistic. Loafers because I enjoy the look of these types of shoes and sneakers because I’m a mom with a baby who is figuring out how her legs really work.
Scents
As far as my fall/winter fragrance, I’m investing in that Merit Beauty perfume in Retrospect. That’s it and that’s all. (For now at least.)
All of this planning if it is God’s will. Amen?
What are some pieces you’re investing in this fall/winter?
With Love, Dani.
